More of the Same From Doctor Appointments…Worries.

32 Weeks and 1 day along!

Today we had our 8-month doctor appointment and it just wouldn’t be a Dent Pregnancy if there weren’t something too worry about. I weighed in fine (145 pounds…ouch!) and my blood pressure and urine all came back fine. Andrew’s heartbeat was a perfect 150 beats per min but when the doctor measured the size of my uterus, I measured in at 26-27cm and she told me I should be around 30-34cm. I guess in pregnancy, those extra 3cm makes a substantial difference. She believes everything is still fine (she thinks I just have a small build by nature), but she wanted to do an ultrasound just to make sure, given his last thing we worried about (his cyst). My appointment is tomorrow 3/26/08 at 2:30pm. I will post what I can but I probably won’t know much until the results are given back to me next doctor appointment. Hopefully they will print me out some pictures…I can honestly say I’ve missed seeing his little face through the ultrasounds! I know in my heart he is fine (just like I did when they discovered his cyst), I just wanted to keep you in the loop :)

Why might I be measuring "small for dates"?
"Measuring small for dates means your fundal height is more than 2 centimeters shorter than what's normal for your stage of pregnancy. Your practitioner will probably order an ultrasound to confirm your due date, in case you're not as far along as you thought, and to rule out problems such as intrauterine growth restriction and too little amniotic fluid. Being small of stature or having well-conditioned abdominal muscles can give you a smaller initial fundal measurement. Or you may have a small, perfectly healthy baby. Some babies are small because their parents are small. But if your baby isn't growing as he should be, you'll have another ultrasound in a few weeks to check on his growth, and frequent monitoring to assess his well-being."

In more uplifting news, the doctor checked the position of Andrew and so far he is in the perfect “head down” position! She said he could change but for the most part he should stay in that general area. She also felt what she believed was his butt...I started to crack up when I heard that :) Pretty soon we will be changing that little butt :) 8 weeks left and counting!!
